On August 25, Casis Elementary School celebrated the grand opening of its fully modernized campus, built as part of the 2017 Bond Program. Students, teachers and community members joined AISD and Casis leadership for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the new cafetorium. The ceremony included a performance by the Austin High School drumline and the whole school sang a special rendition of the Casis Cougar Pride song. In the evening, Casis opened its doors to the entire community to enjoy refreshments and tours of the new school, as well as visit tables from the PTA and campus sponsors.
While the building has been transformed, the Casis passion for nature and community connection remains the same. When you walk through the campus, you’ll see a clear link to nature in nearly every space — from the outdoor classroom overlooking Casis Forest, to the rooftop fitness deck and even the colors of the walls. Each classroom has flexible furniture that can be rearranged to best suit the learning material and each student’s learning style. The school features a connected cafeteria and gym, a library with a reading den and a community room that can be used by the Casis community.

Congratulations to the Casis community, and go Cougars!
