Paws up, Panthers! We hope this update finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We’re excited to share some updates about the Eastside Memorial Early College High School and International High School at the Original L.C. Anderson Campus modernization project.
While AISD has temporarily closed all campuses for in-person instruction for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to further prevent the spread of COVID-19, you will see construction continue at the Eastside Memorial modernization project and across the district. The City of Austin and Travis County recently updated the Stay Home – Work Safe order to extend until May 8. The updated order includes restrictions for construction projects to protect our community from the spread of COVID-19. Based on these guidelines–which allow construction sites to remain open with strict social distancing and additional safety measures–the district expects to continue with our modernization projects as scheduled.
In order to ensure the health and safety of our teams, all projects are closely following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. We have required all general contractors to supply the district with COVID-19 safety plans, and they have complied. The AISD Construction Management Department and all project managers are monitoring sites to ensure that all safety guidelines are being followed on each project.
We would like to thank all of our essential workers who are following the COVID-19 safety protocols and are continuing to build our 21st-century learning spaces. Please keep in mind, they are going to work for us, so we encourage those who can, to stay home for them.

Work on Yellow Jacket Stadium
AISD recently invested over $50K in upgrades to Yellow Jacket Stadium. The previous fence has been replaced by 1,499 linear feet of new seven-foot black dipped vinyl chain link fencing. The fence installation also included the addition of three four-foot gates and two 20×24-foot double drive gates. The project team is now in the process of getting the Yellow Jacket Stadium lights operational.
Community Members Sign Top-out Beam
The Eastside, International, and original L.C. Anderson communities were invited to sign the top-out beam of the new school’s glass tower. This symbolic tradition marks the building’s “topping out” or the placement of the last beam in a superstructure. The top-out beam was installed on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Due to the circumstances involving COVID-19, all Campus Architectural Team meetings will be hosted online via the Zoom platform until further notice.
