On June 17, Austin ISD and LBJ Early College High School (ECHS) held a virtual community meeting to discuss the LBJ modernization project, which is set to begin construction in June 2021. The meeting included a project overview, campus design, and information about what to expect during the construction process. Following the presentation, there was a Q&A to discuss additional engagement and outreach with the LBJ community. AISD is setting a follow-up meeting to discuss outreach with CAT and community members.

As part of the bond program, the Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy (LASA), currently located within LBJ Early College High School (ECHS), will be relocated to the current Eastside Memorial campus. This transition will double student capacity at LBJ ECHS and will create additional space to grow programs. Construction will take place at LBJ ECHS to accommodate a larger student body and modernize learning spaces. The final design will create a two-story media resource center at the heart of the academic building. The design also features spaces specifically designed for the new health sciences program.
Thank you to all community members who joined us for this meeting to provide feedback.
