Rosedale School July 2018 Update

Background One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is a fully modernized Rosedale School, with a new school to be built at the former Lucy Read campus located at 2608 Richcreek Rd, Austin, TX 78757. The new design and construction will be based on the AISD educational specifications to create a state-of-the-art facility. DLR Group has been contracted by the district to support the first steps in the design process and design conversations for Rosedale. A Campus Architectural Team, made up of members of your school community, began meeting regularly with the project team in July to provide input as we seek to create an environment for 21st century learning. Norman Elementary School July 2018 Update

Background When voters approved the 2017 Bond it included $25 million for the construction of a modernized elementary school in northeast Austin.  On March 26, the AISD superintendent accepted a recommendation from a community planning team, made up of parents, community leaders and AISD faculty and staff from Norman and Sims Elementary schools, to modernize the Norman campus. A modernized school allows students to be active learners in 21st-Century learning spaces as they collaborate, use technology, and move within the classroom. While Norman is under construction, students from both campuses will be located at Sims Elementary for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years. The modernized Norman campus will reopen in the fall of 2020. New Northeast Middle School July 2018 Update

Background One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is a New Northwest Middle School with a planned capacity of 800. This project is scheduled to move into the design phase in November 2019. While you may not see physical changes at your school yet, please know that we are planning for it. New Southwest Elementary School July 2018 Update

Background One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is a New Southwest Elementary School that will provide relief to the over-utilized Kiker and Baranoff Elementary Schools, with a planned capacity of 522 students. Following the AISD vision of creating 21st-century learning spaces for students, the new elementary school will incorporate flexible spaces allowing for collaborative, interdisciplinary and project-driven learning. New Blazier Relief Campus July 2018 Update

Background The New Blazier Relief Campus is one of the first schools to be designed and built in the 2017 Bond Program. This school is intended to provide immediate overcrowding relief for Blazier Elementary School by constructing a facility to accommodate grades 4 through 6, with future plans to include up to 8th grade. This new build will be Phase 1 of a strategic plan to transform the entire site into a village containing Pre-K through 8th grade facilities, while providing relief to Blazier Elementary School throughout the transition. Menchaca Elementary School July 2018 Update

Background One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is a full modernization of Menchaca Elementary School. Menchaca will receive a newly constructed school built on the existing site, to the west of the current campus. It will be designed based on the new Austin ISD educational specifications to create a state-of-the-art facility with increased capacity. There will be traffic flow improvements on the site which will accommodate the major, adjacent road expansions of FM 1626 and Manchaca Road. Menchaca will also receive technology upgrades including classroom-based technology. The modernized facility will be built on the southern portion of the existing site while the current facility is occupied. This summer, an abatement of an eight-classroom wing of the building will take place to prepare the site for the future build.
