The new General Marshall Middle School opened its doors to its inaugural sixth grade class in Fall 2023 as one of two new schools built as part of the 2017 Bond Program.

The campus incorporates modern learning spaces while proudly honoring the history of General Marshall, a prominent member of Austin’s Black community, through its namesake.

Key features include:

• A three-story design 
• A central academic courtyard with outdoor dining, stage, and activity lawn
• Flexible and collaborative learning spaces
• Sustainable solar roofs
• CTE and art rooms connected to a roof deck
• A vegetable garden

Why it matters: Austin ISD has envisioned a school that would serve Northeast Austin for many years and is excited to see the campus come to life.
