Background
One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is the first phase of a planned expansion for Hill Elementary School. This project is scheduled to move into the design phase in May 2020. While you may not see physical changes at your school yet, please know that we are planning for it. Austin ISD continues to move forward implementing the bond projects. Districtwide improvements including technology upgrades for teachers and students, new buses, and safety and security improvements are already being rolled out ahead of the 2018-19 school year.

We’re already working on the first round of modernization projects included in the bond:

Schools breaking ground in 2018:

• Doss Elementary
• Govalle Elementary
• Menchaca Elementary
• New Blazier Relief
• New Southwest Elementary
• T.A. Brown Elementary
  

Schools scheduled to break ground in the first half of 2019:

• Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders
• Bowie High School
• Eastside Memorial ECHS and International High School at Original L.C. Anderson
• Murchison Middle School
• Norman Elementary School
  

Schools moving through the design process in the 2018-19 school year:

• Rosedale School
• Austin High
• Brentwood Elementary
• Casis Elementary

Community Meetings
As part of the district’s commitment to communicate the progress of the bond to the community, we will continue updating you to be sure you are aware of opportunities for public engagement around key project milestones.

A Campus Architectural Team will be formed for your campus ahead of the scheduled start date.

CAT meetings are already taking place for all active projects as each team works through its respective phase of planning and design.

Larger community meetings designed to allow opportunities for education, as well as input, will be held for each project as they move through the various design stages.

Finally, as projects move into the construction phase, milestone ceremonies including groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings will be held.

• Thursday, September 6 – Doss Elementary Groundbreaking
