Background
One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is a full modernization of Menchaca Elementary School.
Menchaca will receive a newly constructed school built on the existing site, to the west of the current campus. It will be designed based on the new Austin ISD educational specifications to create a state-of-the-art facility with increased capacity.
There will be traffic flow improvements on the site which will accommodate the major, adjacent road expansions of FM 1626 and Manchaca Road. Menchaca will also receive technology upgrades including classroom-based technology.
LPA and Joeris General Contractors have been contracted by the district for this project, and a Campus Architectural Team, made up of members of your school community, has been meeting regularly with the project team since March to provide input as we seek to modernize the facility and shape the environment for 21st century learning.

Community Meetings
As part of the district’s commitment to communicate the progress of the bond to the community, we want to be sure you are aware of opportunities for public engagement around key project milestones.
CAT meetings are taking place throughout the summer as the team works through the final phases of planning and design.
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, August 30th and plan to join the Menchaca community for a groundbreaking ceremony as this project moves into the construction phase! Additional details will be shared in early August.
