Austin ISD began the year by opening the first three modernized campuses of the 2017 Bond Program. On Jan. 8, students returned from the holiday break to the new T.A. Brown and Menchaca elementary schools, and on Feb. 18 students moved into the new Govalle Elementary School. Each school held a grand opening celebration that featured remarks from AISD and campus leadership.
