As AISD students complete the first few weeks of this unique school year, we hope you and your families are doing well and staying healthy. In this busy time, we want to take a moment to provide an update on the Doss Elementary School modernization project. As part of the 2017 Bond Program, construction began in June 2019. We are so excited to announce that the campus is approaching full completion, and will be ready for students and staff once in-person learning resumes. Check out some photos that were taken when the team was putting finishing touches on the campus.

The new Doss Elementary was primarily inspired by a treehouse, creating a playful, safe and exploratory environment in a natural setting. The natural slope of the site gives students new vantage points across the neighborhood and even the Austin skyline, sparking imagination and adventure. Doss is comprised of 44 studios, two makerspaces and numerous breakout rooms throughout the building. Large collaboration areas are clustered between adjoining classrooms to encourage flexible, collaborative learning.
