Background
One of the key projects included in the voter-approved Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program is a full modernization of Govalle Elementary School.
The modernized facility will be built on the southern portion of the existing site while the current facility is occupied. This summer, an abatement of an eight-classroom wing of the building will take place to prepare the site for the future build.
PBK Architects and Balfour Beatty have been contracted by the district for this project. A Campus Architectural Team, made up of members of your school community, has been meeting regularly with the project team since March to provide input as we seek to modernize the facility and shape the environment for 21st century learning.

Community Meetings
As part of the district’s commitment to communicate the progress of the bond to the community, we want to be sure you are aware of opportunities for public engagement around key project milestones.
CAT meetings are taking place throughout the summer as the team works through the final phases of planning and design.
Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 25 and plan to join the Govalle community for a groundbreaking ceremony as this project moves into the construction phase! Additional details will be shared in August.
