Liberal Arts and Science Academy

In 2002 the LBJ Science Academy, Austin’s first magnet program, and the Liberal Arts Academy merged to become the Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA), housed on the Lyndon Baines Johnson High School campus. Admission to the school is competitive, based on test scores, previous accomplishments and teacher recommendations. Through the 2017 Bond Program, LASA will move to the building that currently houses Eastside Memorial Early College High School and International High School, which will receive minor renovations and allow for a 25-percent increase in enrollment in the Academy.
