Welcome back to school, Dillos! We are sharing the Fall 2021 edition of the Hill Elementary School 2017 Bond Program Newsletter.
The Big Picture
The Hill modernization includes a new gymnasium, studios, playgrounds and outdoor learning areas, a new parking lot and a bus loop. The modernization spaces opened to students on Aug. 17th.
Why It Matters
Improvements from the 2017 Bond Program increased campus capacity to 870, alleviating overcrowding and allowing for future growth.
Happening Now
Work continues on the new outdoor spaces, which includes playgrounds, landscaping and a basketball court. These projects should not interfere with student learning and are expected to be complete this October.
What’s Next
The grand opening celebration has been postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases and the City of Austin’s Stage 5 risk-based guidelines. The district is closely monitoring the public health environment and will schedule the grand opening when it is safe to gather for large celebrations.
